“Excluding humans, dolphins are the smartest animal”

Dolphins are the smartest animal excluding humans, the bottlenose dolphin being the smartest. They’re extremely intelligent. They can recognize themselves in the mirror. Very trainable, can hold and use tools with their teeth to paint etc. One of the best communication systems among all animals, use a whistling sound to communicate. Dolphins give names to other dolphins in their group and call them by that name with a unique signature whistle, besides humans, they’re the only animals to do this. Dolphins tell off their calves by buzzing them with clicks of sonar if they do anything wrong. They’re very imaginative and creative animals and won’t ever be afraid to try or do something new. While only some animals will show initial interest on novel objects, very few maintain a level of curiosity and playfulness than dolphins for so long. They can adapt to different situations. Their EQ intelligence ranking is the second highest next to humans, chimpanzees coming in at third. They find/learn all types of different strategies to find food and they even teach their carves these ways i.e. hydroplaning (working up speed to skim across the sand to catch fish in the shallow waters), harnessing an ability of another species for themselves i.e. stingray (they’ll swim with it, until the stingray finds hidden prey under the sea bed, using their electro receptors, they can detect prey, dolphins have worked this out and once prey is spotted, will sweep in and take its meal). They can work with humans to catch fish i.e. in one certain part of the world, hundreds of fishermen come to an area to fish in the dawn and dolphins work with these fishermen each dawn. Once a dolphin spots fish, it will slap the water (or use special signs) with its tail so the fisherman can throw their nets over that area in the murky waters, what the dolphins gain from this strategy, by casting their nets, the fishermen scatter the shawl making it easier for the dolphins to snap up individual fish . Another way they do it, is by beating their tail, they stir up the silt, creating a V shape wall of mud, a fish trap. The only way for the fish to go is up, meaning they have to jump out of the water which easily allows the dolphin to catch them. They have many more strategies that they have come up with to find food as well which they teach to their own youngsters. It’s a mystery how these dolphins come up with these strategies, but their use of mud to catch fish clearly shows their unique ways of creativity.
